"Kugayama Southgate building “ has Won Special Mention in German Design Award 2019 The aim of the German Design Award is to identify, present and honor unique design trends. A competition that advances the design scene. Prizes of the international premium prize will go to top quality products and projects from product and communication design, design personalities and newcomers, all of whom are pioneering in German and international design landscape. As an industry competition for the industry that highlights participants’ great design expertise, the German Design Award has an excellent public image. This is also down to the reputation of its organizer, the German Design Council, which has been representing and supporting the German design industry with its expertise in all questions relating to design for 60 years now. Jury Statement: STATEMENT OF THE JURY The wire mesh cover on the façade serves as a climbing frame for the creepers so that the exterior of the building will gradually be covered in greenery. A nice idea that creates a direct connection between architecture and nature which has a positive effect on the urban landscape. 「Kugayama　Southgate Building」プロジェクト（東京都杉並区）がこの度、ドイツデザイン賞2019特別賞（German Design Award 2019 Special Mention）を受賞しました。 ドイツデザイン賞（German Design Award）は、ドイツ連邦議会の議決により1953年に設立されたThe German Design Councilが主催している権威ある国際的なデザイン賞です。 審査対象はすでにデザイン分野で一定の評価を受けている作品であり、当作品はドイツの「ICONIC AWARD 2018」の受賞により、今回候補（ノミネート）を経ての受賞となりました。選考はExcellent Communication Designと、Excellent Product Designの2つのカテゴリの各部門に分かれ、それぞれ専門の審査員によって賞が決定されました。 授賞式はドイツ・フランクフルトにおいて2019年２月に予定されています。 受賞理由　 （審査員：JURY BEGRÜNDUNG） ファサードのワイヤーロッドカバーは、建物の外側が徐々に緑に覆われるように、フレームとして機能します。都市の景観にプラスの効果をもたらす建築と自然の直接的なつながりを作り出す素晴らしいアイデア。
