"SQUARE SERIES" is an attempt to redefine the notion of the square, a simple primitive form by changing its shape and continuing to express it in a repetitive manner, thereby transforming the dimension of its own and the value of the whole. The works are concerned with the connection between exterior and interior, the cutting of space, and the framing of visual, optical, and physical existence. The basis of this projects are also a movement to reinterpret the nature of architecture by extracting items that have not yet been paid attention to and shining a new light on them.
SQUARE SERIESと題された一連の検証は、認識されやすい単純な原始的な形である正方形を用いておいて、それらの形状を変化させつつ反復しながら表現し続けることによりそのもののおよび全体の価値の次元転換により概念を再定義することの試みである。外部・内部の繋がり方、空間の切取り方、フレーミングの視覚的、光学的、物理的な存在としてのあり方を対象としている。この基礎となっているのは、未だに注目されていない項目を抽出してそこに光を当て直すことにより建築のあり方を再解釈する動きでもある。
