毎年開催されるWAF(World Architecture Festival) Awards 2022は、昨年はオンラインでの参加でしたが、今年はポルトガル・リスボンで開催です。
実会場での参加は2018年のオランダ・アムステルダム以来です。
こちらの集合住宅カテゴリーで２つのプロジェクトが入選（shortlist）したのでファイナリストとしてプレゼンテーションをしてきました。昨年も３つのプロジェクトが一つのカテゴリー（複合用途カテゴリー）に入ってプレゼンテーションしましたが（プロジェクトの方向性は異なるもの）、今年の２つはかなり類似した形のプロジェクトだったのもあり、質疑応答も容易ではなかったです。
会場としては、以前参加した時と同じような構成で、異なるカテゴリーがそれぞれのゲルのようなユニット内でそれぞれプレゼンテーション、審査員、観客がいて、好きなプレゼンテーションを見れる様になっていました。またメインステージでも、コンスタントにレクチャーが行われていました。これらのイベント期間中は、前夜レセプションから様々な方々と交流する機会もあり、街を見ることもできるなどとても楽しくすごすことが出来ました。
The WAF Awards 2022 held in Lisbon, Portugal this year, after participating online last year.
This is the first time I have participated at the actual venue since Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2018.
Two projects have been selected (shortlist) in the Housing category here and I have made a presentation as a finalist.
As for the venue, it was similar to the one I attended in the past, with each of the different categories in their own unit with their own presentations, judges, and audience, so that you could watch any presentation you wanted. There were also constant lectures on the main stage. During these events, we had the opportunity to meet many different people from the reception the night before, and we also had the chance to see the city, which was a very enjoyable experience. Xavier Calderon, great studio-class mate friend from GSAPP at Columbia University joined me to attended the entire event.
